Heather Gehring

Heather Gehring (silverscreenballroom.com)began dancing at the age of two and started teaching and performing professionally at sixteen. She received early training at the Boston Ballet School and School of American Ballet the official school of the New York City Ballet. After graduating from Walnut Hill High School for the Performing Arts, Heather joined the Hartford Ballet Company before exploring other techniques and establishing proficiency in many styles including ballroom, contemporary, Argentine Tango, swing and salsa.

Heather has appeared in commercials, on television shows (Gossip Girl, Tony Danza, Fox TV Morning Show, NBC’s Today Show, on MTV and Boardwalk Empire to name a few) and in major motion pictures such as Little Manhattan and Disney’s Enchanted.

Heather taught at Dance Manhattan for fifteen years and continues to perform and teach regularly with her long time dance partner Lou Brockman. Together they have traveled the world appearing at Jacob’s Pillow, at Harvard University with the legendary jazz musician Wynton Marsalis, and on Broadway with the show Gotham Holiday Swing, in which they danced to the incredible music of Vince Giordano and His Nighthawks.

Heather and Lou are excited to bring their unique, ‘Silver Screen’ style of social dance to the Stepping out community! Look for them in the first episode of Boardwalk Empire’s new season where they will be dancing 1930’s style rumba.
